Open Source Engineering Notes — October 2026

TL;DR

An October 2026 record of upstream engineering contributions, with links to verifiable changes.

This month's open-source work included a maintenance fix to the Python packaging metadata of an upstream project. The focus here is on the actual change and its verification, rather than the number of pull requests submitted.

pylavi: remove a deprecated license classifier

In marcpage/pylavi PR #88, I removed the deprecated License :: OSI Approved :: The Unlicense (Unlicense) classifier from setup.py. The package retains its existing license="Unlicense" metadata; the change does not attempt to relicense the project.

The upstream pull request was merged on October 30, 2026. The PR records a strict package-metadata check and a test run reporting 46 passing tests. This is a small compatibility and maintenance change, not a functional change to the library's behavior.

Further upstream work

Other October contributions are not included here until their merge status and technical scope are independently verified. The monthly generator will collect externally merged pull requests for editorial review.
